As the- Russians penetrated- the last mile or two of the south-east-ern suburbs of Viborg, fierce air battles, involving, hundreds of planes, raged throughout Finland. The. Finns claim that they, shot down fourteen Russians.- The Reds claim that they wiped out thirtysix Finnish planes. The’Flnns- successfully bombed a. “certain” air base, traffic junction and troop trains and also' made extensive - reconnaissance flights. They encountered ; orr one occasion Russian bombers which unloaded their bomb's over the Estonian island- of Vorrtis. In their attempts-to escape, the raiders spread devastation in a-score of towns, killing fourteen civilians and wounding sixteen. The battle continues savagely- along the Isthmus and also north-east of Lake-L-adoga-a-nd in-the Arctic..
