ENTRY OF NON-RESIDENTS PROHIBITED PROTECTION OF GREAT POWER SCHEME. BAN EXTENDS TO HEBRIDES. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. LONDON, February 27. A defence regulation forbids nonresidents, except under special permits, to enter the Highlands north of the Caledonian Canal from March 11 next. The ban extends to the Inner and Outer Hebrides and prohibits flights west and north of the canal. It is understool the object is to protect the Lochaber power scheme, one of the world’s largest hydro-electric systems, which cost £5,000,000 and took five years to complete. It taps many lochs and includes an 18-mile tunnel through the solid granite of Ben Nevis.
