APPROPRIATIONS IN U.S.A. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day. 12.15 p.m.) WASHINGTON. February 2G. Congress ha.-; moved two steps towards the creation of a United Slates Legation in Australia, the most important being the Lower House Appropriation Committee’s authorisation of funds to enable Mr Gauss to proceed to Australia from Shanghai promptly. Meanwhile the Senate has begun the consideration of the regular State Department appropriation foi’ the year beginning July, in which is included the authorisation for a Minister to Australia for a full year. Tills the House has, already approved.
