GRAIN AND PRODUCE

CANTERBURY MARKETS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, February 24. The potato situation has not altered since the last report, the nominal on trucks quotation remaining at £3 10s a ton. There was little inquiry, from the North Island, and growers are not anxious to sell. If it were not for the handling of wheat, which is still coming in freely, there would not be a great deal of activity in the grain markets. A good general demand for seeds has become evident from the North Island, but merchants are not able to buy stocks freely, many growers still being content to await developments. Up to 6s 6d, with a premium for choice lines, is .being offered for perennial and Italian, and ryegrass, and white clover and cocksfoot are uhchaned.
