EKETAHUNA EWE FAIR. KEEN COMPETITION. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report: —A full yarding of ewes of all ages came forward at our Eketahuna ewe fair and we submitted 5,236 to a good attendance. The entry included well known lines of local ewes which come forward to this fixture annually, and for these competition was keen, with prices comparing favourably with recent fixtures. Mr J. H. Hudson’s 4-yr. ewes commanded keen competition, being penned in good order, and condition and he had again the distinction of topping the sale in this section at 24s lOd. The 5-yr. ewes included entries from the McLennan Estate, which topped the sale, selling at 22s 4d. Mr C. W. Dagg’s draft of 4-th. to 6-th. ewes realised 25s 7d; 6-th. to 4-yr. ewes sold vzith fair prices resulting, and in these pens Mr R. J. H. McKay’s realised 225. Two-tooth ewes were in fair demand and in these lines Mr Geo. Olivant's entry topped the sale with a pen of good sheep at 275. Mr F. Mason’s 2-th. ewes realised 265, this being the second top price of the sale, followed by Mr Sidney Corlett’s and Mr D. J. Olivant’s entries selling at 25s Id and 25s respectively. The general tone of the sale was fair, the top lines selling with good competition, while the ■ smaller lines of m.a. ewes and poorer quality sold particularly well in the circumstances. We quote the following pri-ces:—4-yr. ewes: A/c J. H. Hudson, 24s lOd; others, 20s 2d, 19 7d, 19s 4d to 14s lOd. 5-yr. ewes: A/c McLennan Estate, 22s 4d; a/c C. W.
