CHURCH SERVICES
The harvest festival services at the Salvation Army tomorrow will be conducted by Major and Mrs Avenell. from Wellington. Major and Mrs Avenell were the commanding officers of the Masterton Corps 30 years ago. and are well known in Masterton by many friends. The Major will give topical addresses during the day. The final series of these services will take place on Monday night with a special programme and sale of produce. There will be celebrations of the Holy Communion tomorrow at St. Matthew’s Church at 8 a.m., and at Kuripuni and Upper Plain at 9 a.m. The Archdeacon will be the preacher both in the morning and evening at St. Matthew's Church. The evening service at Kuripuni will be conducted by the Rev. T. V. Pearson.
The chart lectures will be continued on Sunday night, at 7 o’clock, in the Gospel Hall. “Ruhamah,” Queen Street, the subject being a very interesting one, “The Story of Moses, that Wonderful Prophet, and the Exodus of the Children of Israel from Egypt.” At the Methodist Church tomorrow the services will be conducted by Mr W. E. Teeboon in the morning, and by Mr F. G. Rutter in the evening. Attention is drawn to the coming of a noted Australian professor and preacher in the person of Professor A. E. Albiston, who is to speak in the Methodist Church on Monday, March 18.
In the Kuripuni Methodist Church tomorrow the evening service at 7 o'clock will be conducted by Mr A. Petrie. Mr A. E. Lonsdale, a student from the N.Z. Baptist College in Auckland, who has spent his vacation superintending the work of the Masterton Baptist Fellowship, will preach his farewell sermons tomorrow in the Y.M.C.A. meeting room. At the Lansdowne Presbyterian Church tomorrow the services will be conducted by the Rev. R. Dickie. At the morning service an election for elders will take place. The Rev. D. McNeur will conduct the services at Kaiparoro (1.30 p.m.). Eketahuna (3 p.m.), and Alfredton (7 p.m.). The annual picnic of the Lansdowne Sunday School will be held at Akura on March 2.
