MARTINBOROUGH
CENTENNIAL BATHS SATISFACTORY PROGRESS. (“Times-Age” Special.) Al. a meeting of the Martinborough Centennial Baths Committee held recently members were most enthusiastic over the progress which was being made with the construction of the baths. Present indications are that the Baths will be ready for use by the end of March and it is hoped to officially open them on the day the local Centennial celebrations are held (March 31). Sufficient funds ars in hand to put the baths in a usable condition, but in order to complete the work according to the wishes of the committee a further sum will be required. Donations are still being received and the committee hopes that sufficient money will come to hand to make the memorial worthy of the district and its founders. Contributions should be made now to Mr G. Willis at the Borough Council office. It was decided by the committee to hold a swimming and life-saving carnival on the opening night, and a small committee was appointed to act with Mr Lawrie Turner in arranging for this gathering. It was also decided to call a public meeting for the purpose of forming a Swimming and Life-saving Club. This will be held in the Town Hall on Tuesday, March 12.
