The Hon W. Lee Martin. Minister of Agriculture, will return to Wellington today from the South Island. The Hon H. G. R. Mason, AttorneyGeneral. left Wellington for Auckland by the Limited express last night. Mr C. Creelman. of Whangarei, and formerly of the Masterton Post Office staff, is on a visit to Masterton. The Hon D. G. Sullivan. Minister of Industries and Commerce, returned to Wellington from the south yesterday morning. Mr D. G. Johnston, secretary of the New Zealand Institute of Architects, was elected to honorary life fellowship of the institute by the council of that body yesterday. At last night’s meeting of the Masterton Borough Council, the Mayor, Mr T. Jordan, was congratulated on having been elected a vice-president of the New Zealand branch of the Royal Sanitary Institute. Messrs Young (Taranaki), Mills (Auckland), Busby and Ivil (Hastings), Winter- (Takaka), Leech, Whitelaw and E. C. Jones (Wellington) Were at the Prince of Wales Hotel, Masterton, yesterday. The Hon H. T. Armstrong. Minister of Housing, will leave Wellington on Saturday for Nelson. He will also visit Marlborough and Christchurch before returning to Wellington about a week later. Hotel Midland (Masterton) guests yesterday were Messrs A. R. Bevins (Auckland), H. A. Wilson (Christchurch), C. Morgan (Napier), T. Tyrell (Palmerston North), I. R. Macgregor. M. Ralph, W. R. Jamieson (Wellington). The death occurred at Lower Hutt yesterday of Mr David Grant, 28 Hautana Square. Lower Hutt, and formerly of Masterton, where he was engaged as a teacher for many years. Deceased was 69 years of age. and besides a widow leaves a family of five. “I wish to congratulate Mr T. A. Russell (Borough Health Inspector) on his very fine report of the annual conference of the New Zealand branch of the Royal Sanitary Institute,’.’ stated Councillor A. D. Low at the monthly meeting of the Masterton Borough Council last night. "It was a job carried out in the usual capable manner of the Inspector." he added. His remarks were endorsed by the Mayor. Mr T. Jordan. Mr Russell, who was elected president of the Sanitary Inspectors’ Association at the annual meeting, was congratulated on his appointment. For “gallantry and devotion to duty." Corporal C. B. G. Knight. Picton. has been awarded the Distinguished Flving Medal. He is the first airman or N.C.O. of the Royal. New Zealand Air Force to receive a decoration. though New Zealanders serving with the Royal Air Force have won awards. Corporal Knight is the son of Mrs K. E. Knight. Otago Street, Picton. and is 27 years of age. He was formerly a corporal in the NelsonMarlborough Mounted Rifles, transferring to the R.N.Z.A.F. in 1937. Previously he was employed with the Post and Telegraph Department at Seddon. Nq details are available about: the circumstances in which Corporal Knight won the D.F.M.
