WITH TRAGIC LOSS OF LIFE OFFICER AND FOUR SEAMEN PICKED UP. COMMANDER AMONG MISSING. The British destroyer, H.M.S. Daring, has been torpedoed, a radio message states, one officer and four ratings have been picked up, but nine officers and 114 ratings are missing. Among the missing ,is Commander S. A. Cooper. H.M.S. Daring was a 1400-ton destroyer of the Defender class and was completed in 1932. She was armed with four 4.7-inch guns, six smaller guns and had eight 21-inch torpedoes.
