BASKETBALL
MEETING OF WAIRARAPA ASSOCIATION. Miss O. R. Sutherland presided over a general meeting of the Wairarapa Basketball Association. It was decided to send a representative team to the New Zealand Basketball Centennial tournament, which is to be held at Easter in Wellington. Several players of the 1939 representative team, it was stated, were not available. Miss D. O'Donnell was appointed coach. The selectors, Miss O. R. Sutherland and Miss D. O'Donnell, have selected the following girls to go into training:— Defence: A. Burgess. L. Renner, M. Carroll, R. Eastwood. Centres: R. Edwards. M. McLaren, M. Eastwood, M. Rutherford. Forwards: J. Gemmell, M. Brady, R. Percy, P. Hanley. A practice will be held on Saturday at 1.30 p.m. Congratulations were sent to Miss P. Kilmister on the occasion of her marriage.
