; GATHERING AT CARTERTON | — | AHIARUHE-PONATAHI CLUB. 1. LARGE ENTRIES IN HORSE , EVENTS. (“Times-Age" Special.) The Ahiarue-Ponatahi Sports Club’s annual meeting was held in the Wairarapa P. and A. Society's Showgrounds, Carterton on Saturday. Despite the fact that heavy rain fell throughout the afternoon there was a fairly large crowd. The petrol restrictions also interfered with the attendance. A lengthy programme was speedily put through by the sports officials, under the leadership of the secretary. Mr L. H. Smart. In the horse events the entries were the best received for some years, and as in most of the other events competition was very keen. Competitors were present , from all parts of the Wairarapa district, Masterton being fairly well represented. The following are the results: — Horse Events. Tilting: M. Ross 1. R. Nunn 2. P.
