GUN CLUB MEETING BROUGH CUP CONTEST. (“Times-Age” Special.) The- local Gun Club opened its season with lhe first match for Ihc Brough Cup was fired and resulted in a win lor M. McLeod who obtained 20 out of a possible 21. The next shoot will be for the second match of the Brough Cup. 3he members of the local club are making every effort to ensure a successful season. Personal items, Mrs Carter, who was visiting Napier, has returned home. Messrs Rowley and Bert Henson, who enlisted recently in. the Forestry Battalion, have gone into camp at Ngai’uawahia. Mr and Mrs Cliff Carmont, who were the guests of Mr and Mrs Longman for tlie weekend, have returned to Foxton. Mrs Bills, v;ho was visiting her daughter, has returned, to Foxton. Mr E. Taurau, who was in Hastings for the parrish conference, has left for North Auckland. Mr J. Riwai and family have returned from a visit to Wellington. Messrs Hickleton and Te Whaiti (2) have returned to Taihape. Mrs A. Simeon, Feilding, is visiting relatives in this district. Miss Queenie Te Maari, who has been living in Waipukurau for the past six months, has returned home. Mrs Lovegrove has left for Wellington where she will meet her son. Len, and his wife. They will make a tour of the South Island. Mr and Mrs Fred Bird spent, the weekend in Wellington. Mr P. Te Aroatua is visiting Hawke's Bay. A wedding of considerable interest to the district will be celebrated at Waimarama, Hastings, at the end of the month, when Mihi, fourth daughter of the late Mr and Mrs J. H. Te Whaiti. will bo married to a member of a wellknown Hawke’s Bay native family, Mr Teira, grandson of the late paramount Hawke’s Bay chief, Teira Tiakitai. A large contingent of natives from the Wairarapa will attend the ceremony. Damage By Gale. A gale of unprecedented rage passed over the district on Thursday morning and did considerable damage.
