SEND OFF TO SOLDIERS

ARRANGEMENT BY COMMITTEE. ______ / (“Times-Age” Special.) At a meeting of the Committee apj pointed to arrange a send off to enlisted men on their final leave. Mr Beveridge moved that an impromptu social and dance be held and that a moderate charge be made at. the door to cover expenses. This was seconded by Mr R. P. George and carried. A. suggestion by Mr L. A. Campbell that each soldier receive a gift was adopted. The following sub-committee was appointed to arrange details: Chairman. Mr C. W. Skill; secretary, Mr T. 11. Smith; treasurer, Mr Knell; men. Messrs Beveridge. R. George, Campbell. Knell, Duffy, Jolly, and Lynch; ladies, Mesdames W. B. Martin, Knell. Sadd. and F. Wright with power to add. It was decided a charge of 2s for men and Is for ladies be made for admission to the social to cover the expenses of presentations. DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL MONTHLY MEETING. At the monthly meeting of the School Committee there were present: Messrs H. L. Griffiths, chairman. E. C. Sadd. treasurer. R. P. George. G. P. Cotter, F. B. Wright, R. E. Burch, and the Headmaster (Mr D. C. Pryor). It was decided to take, out an insurance policy to cover 250 pupils. ‘ In a letter the Wellington Education Board notified that the tender of Mi’ Caseley had been accepted for transport of Tawaha pupils to and from school. After discussion concerning the supply of milk to schools scheme it was resolved to ask the Education Board if the Martinborough school could bo included. •.Accounts amounting to £l7 15s 8d were passed for payment. After the meeting the Committee met the ladies of the Home and School Association when the annual school picnic was discussed, and it was resolved the picnic be held at Moiki on Saturday, February 24.
