This Day. The Douglas air lines Bungana bound for Perth with 11 passengers and a crew of three, made a forced landing 200 miles northwest of Melbourne today. The pilot explained that one engine caught fire at an altitude of 6000 feet and a landing had to be found. The machine was nearing the ground when the engine dropped out of the plane, and the other engine caught fire. The.'. Bungana landed safely in a wheat paddock and crashed through a fence. The machine was damaged but nobody was hurt. The passengers, who were thoroughly alarmed, expressed their gratitude for the skill of the pilot in bringing them to safety in sensational circumstances.
