DANNEVIRKE SHOW
PEOPLE’S DAY. IMPRESSIVE PARADE OF LIVE STOCK. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) DANNEVIRKE, February 7. After a boisterous early morning, witli a good deal of heavy rain, the weather cleared at about 11 o'clock for people’s day at the Dannevirke Agricultural and Pastoral Association's Show, and when the crowds began to arrive, the sun was shining brightly. Though a fairly high wind blew throughout the day. conditions steadily improved, with the result that the attendance was fully up to the best of previous years.
With a splendid array of live stock and other exhibits, a varied programme of horse jumping, dog trialsand other ring events, and the usual variety of sideshows, patrons found plenty of interest and amusement, which appeared to be maintained throughout the afternoon. The grand parade of live stock champions made an impressive showing, and reflected the splendid quality of the stock being raised in Southern Hawke’s Bay and nearby districts. Both the Ruahine PipeBand and the Dannevirke Municipal Band played selections during the afternoon, and tile pipers who headed the grand parade were given a splendid reception by the crowd. Champion awards were: —
Horses: Hacks, Miss M. Morrison’s Kerione. Harness horses, Miss G. Guthrie;.? Digger. Ponies. B. Bousfield’s Flirt. Cattle: Grade dairy cows. S. N. Lind's Baby; reserve. ,T. G. Horn’s Betty.
