CRICKET MATCH WIN FOR FEATHERSTON. (“Times-Age” Special.) The Featherston and Pirates teams played a match during the weekend. In the first innings Featherston compiled 55 runs (McNamara 13, Wright 16 not out; Hayes 4 wickets for 11 runs, Price 3 for 13, Staples 2 for 10). Pirates, first innings 78 (C. Hayes 22, Price 15; Webster 4 for 31. Pyke 3 for 17). .

Featherston, second innings, 106 (Anderson 44, Hague 13, McNamara 10. Ritchie 10; Hayes 5 for 6, Price 2 for 22).

Patriotic Donations. The. Borough Clerk (Mr H. Rolls) has received £lOO from the Wairarapa Racing Club, £5O to go to the National Patriotic Fund and £5O to the Provincial Patriotic Fund. Personal Items. Mrs G. S. Sharp and Mrs Chas. Matthews, Oporua, left last night for Christchurch, where they intend spending a short holiday. < Miss Nancy Carlyon left yesterday for Whakatane.

Mrs G. M. Browne is visiting Christchurch for a few days. Mrs H. R. Bloxam and Miss Bloxam, left by the South boat last night for Christchurch, where they will spend a few weeks. The funeral of the late Mr Thomas Henry Gilpen, whose death occurred at the Greytown Hospital on Thursday, took place at the Featherston Cemetery on Saturday afternoon, the Rev. J. T. .Holland conducting the service. The pall-bearers were Messrs Bruce Donald, A. Gain, C. Bain, A. Bain, R. Jepsen and M. Cheer. The late Mr Gilpen had been in the employ of the late Mr Allan Donald for many years and on his retirement he remained on the estate. His wife and only daughter predeceased him some years ago.

Misses Mahood, B. Rowles and M. Merlet have been appointed to the staff of Featherston Primary School. Mr and Mrs Willett and family returned on Saturday from a motor tour of North Auckland. Miss Moana Mutter, who has been visiting her sister, Mrs S. Brooker. Karori, returned home yesterday. Misses A. Foss and M. Dempster have returned from a holiday spent in Melbourne. Home Nursing. The examination for home nursing is to be held in the first week in March. The final lecture is to be given by Dr Sharp on Wednesday night.
