JAPANESE REPLY

ASAMA MARU INCIDENT RECEIVED BY BRITISH AMBASSADOR. MR CHAMBERLAIN'S RECENT REFERENCE. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 10.12 a.m.) RUGBY, February 2, It is understood that the Japanese Governments reply to the recent British note on the Asama Maru incident was received by the British Ambassador at the Japanese Foreign Office yesterday but the text has not yet been received in London. In the meantime it is felt in London that Mr Neville Chamberlain’s references to the incident in his speech on Wednesday will have helped to put it in its proper perspective.
