Barnes. T. Burns and the Hon Secretary llVlr G. Barr). It was decided to revert to the system of giving monthly prizes for the highest aggregate points in swimming and diving events combined, in each section iexcluding the relay and dash races). The junior, intermediate and senior prizes arc to be Is 6d. 2s 6d and 3s 6d for first only in each section, and points to be awarded are 3. 2. and 1 for first, second and third respectively. Any details not quite clear will be explained by committee members, and the regulations may be seen on the notice board at the baths. As the club's annual carnival is to take place on February 24, it was decided that the programme be drawn up and circulated next week. In order to revise the conditions go verning each competition, and to take an inventory of all club trophies it is asked that all cups be returned to the secretary (Mr G. Barr) at the earliest opportunity. A display of the Trophies will be arranged as soon as they are all returned. They may be loft a*t Mr G. Barr's Cycle Shop.
A sub-committoe submitted a draft of the revised club rules and by-laws, and these were carefully considered, further revised by the committee and subsequently passed for printing. Authority had been given at the annual general meeting for this course to be taken. The rules and by-laws will be printed in booklet form and members can purchase the same at a small price.
It was decided that a bus leave for the Greytown Carnival on Monday evening departing from the Post Office at 6.45 p.m. Mr L. Maguire will be in charge of the party. No transport will be provided for the Pahiatua Carnival. Members desiring to attend must arrange their own transport. Mr C. Spiers was appointed the club’s representative to attend a meeting of the centennial sports committee on Monday. The chairman welcomed Mr T. Burns to the Committee and said that he was sure that Mr Burns's association with it would be a pleasant one. Mr Eurns has been appointed by the committee under power of the rules, to fill the vacancy created by Mr H. Dixon’s resignation, the latter having joined the Second Echelon. The club is now represented in the fighting forces by Messrs Jim Barnes. D. Hewitt, G. Gaze.’ H. Dixon, and Frank Long. Mr V. McKeague said he was sure the club would view with great satisfaction the notices appearing in that evening's "Times-Age" concerning the Borough Council's decisions on the new baths question. The club had long boon advocates of the replacement of the present out-of-date baths, and it was very pleasing to see that some definite steps were being taken at last towards that end. Whilst he did l not agree that it was necessary to spend £13.000 to provide adequate baths he was sure the club would not quibble if the ratepayers sanctioned that amount being spent to provide an up-to-date swimming pool of which the town could bo proud. Mi 1 D. Pauling agreed with chairman's remarks, and added that the club would be pleased to co-operate with the council in any way deemed advisable to further the success of the project. The meeting closed with votes of thanks to Mr Spiers for the use of the rooms, and to the chairman.
