EKETAHUNA

FORESTERS’ LODGE MONTHLY MEETING OF MEMBERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) C.R. Bro. J. Fargher presided over a good attendance of members at a meeting of Court Makakahi, A.0.F., last night. Several members were declared off the sick funds and others declared on. Correspondence from sick members was read. Several matters relative to the Centennial Triennial Conference were discussed.

Bro. S. Daniel reported on the result of the card tournament held last Saturday night, and referred in terms of praise of the hospitality of Court Enterprise.

It was agreed to leave the remits to the Centennial Conference in the hands of the delegate. Secretary Bro. O. Walton reported that he had completed the yearly financial return, which showed that £223 in sick pay had been paid to members for the year ended December 31, 1939, and that the year had closed with a membership of 88. A vote of condolence was passed to the relatives of the late Bro. R. Thomasen, the members standing in silence.

LATE MR R. THOMASEN

FUNERAL AT EKETAHUNA

The funeral of the late Mr R. Thomasen took place at the Eketahuna Cemetery. The cortege which was a representative one consisted of some 80 cars, and testified to the high esteem in which the deceased was held in the district. The Rev. P. R. Keall conducted a service at the house at Atea and also the service at the graveside. The Foresters’ Lodge service was read by C.R. Bro. J. Fargher. A large number of floral tributes were receiv■ed. The pall-bearers were Messrs J. J., J. and B. Thomasen (brothers), J. Hawkens, Alan Lawrence and J. P. Petersen. ENGAGEMENT LESSELS—ROLLS. The engagement is announced of Annie (Dolly), only daughter of Mr and the late Mrs H. Rolls, Alfredton, to Alex Neil,, youngest son of the late Mr and Mrs J. Lessels, Nelson. Personal Items. Mrs A. Hansen and family, Stanley Street, left today on a visit to Wellington.

Mr and Mrs Alec. Edmonds and family, Alfredton, left today on a visit to Wellington, after which they will proceed on an extended caravan tour of the North Island.

Miss Dolly Rolls. Alfredton, has returned home from a visit to Nelson. Mr and Mrs W. J. Henderson returned home last night from a visit to Invercargill.
