CLUB COMPETITIONS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The following is the draw for a further round in the club championship singles:—A. Thompson v Martin; Sorensen v Larsen G. Hart v Barber (two lives). Games must be finished by February 7. Booth Cup: The following teams will represent Carterton against Featherston on Saturday next: —At Featherston, Harrington, W. Steven, G. Hart, Sorensen (s); Bain, De Lacey, Simmonds, Hughan (s). At Carterton—Smith, Underhill, Harp, Barber (s); Callender, A. Thompson, R. Thompson, Tucker (s), Shield team to play at Carterton: Newbould, Matson, Barr, Stent (s). Games were played in the club championship events last evening and resulted as follows:—Champion singles —G. Hart beat F. Barr, 19/13! C. Larsen beat W. Robertson 25/20. Champion rink —Lynch, Robertson, Beale, Tucker (s),' beat Boyne, Harris, Martin, Simmonds (s), 27/22. Personal Items. Reference was made at last night’s meeting of the Borough Council to the illness of Cr J. Udy and it was resolved that the clerk write to Cr. Udy conveying the council’s sympathy in his illness and wishing'him a speedy recovery.; Cr. Udy is an inmate of Bowen Street Private Hospital, Wellington. Mr and Mrs L. M. Clark, and family, of Garrison Street, who spent a holiday in Paraparumu have returned to Carterton. Mr Alex Deller, son of Mr and Mrs G. H. Deller, of Moreton Road, is an inmate of Croydon Hospital. Carterton, where he successfully underwent an operation for appendicitis. Mrs Fairfax Fenwick, of Gisborne, is visiting her parents, Mr and Mrs G. A. Vincent. Mr Geo James, borough foreman, is at present on his annual leave. Mr and Mrs S. Bowman, erstwhile of Carterton. are visiting, the district. They are on a motor tour through the North Island. Miss Fisher, of Auckland is the guest of Miss Mary Lawrence, Park Road, Carterton. Methodist Church Plans and specifications for alterations to the local Methodist Church were passed last evening by the Carterton Borough Council.

Awards at Show. At the . Feilding Show yesterday awards in Friesians were won by Mr K. G. Fairbrother, of Dalefield, as follows:—Cow, visibly in calf or in milk: K. G. Fairbrother, 1 and champion.
