FEATHERSTON
EUCHARISTIC CONGRESS LOCAL REPRESENTATION. (“Times-Age" Special.) This week 24 Children of Mary from the Featherston Sodality will attend the Eucharistic Congress in Wellington and will take part in the women's mass and march in the procession. Later they are to be entertained to luncheon in the Town Hall by the Wellington Sodalities. The younger members of the parish are to attend a children’s service on Friday. Special trains from Featherston have been arranged for.
Catholic Congress Visitors.
His Excellency the Papal Legate and party, accompanied by his Grace Archbishop O'Shea, of Wellington, were the guests of Mr and Mrs D. H. S. Riddiford to luncheon on Saturday. The Most Rev E. Gleeson, C.SS.R., Bishop of Maitland, New South Wales, and the Rev Father Wogan, of the Franciscan Order, Sydney, in company with Mr H. T. O’Leary, K.C., Wellington, were guests at afternoon tea at the residence of the Mayor, Mr J. W. Card, on Saturday. The Rev Father Wogan is now Provincial of Franciscan Order in New Zealand.
BOWLS CHAMPIONSHIP PAIRS. H. Bloxarn and L. James were beaten by W. H. Rolls and A. B. Fuge in a championship pairs match on Saturday afternoon. Personal Items. Mrs O’Neale, Western Lake, who underwent a serious operation in the Greytown Hospital last week, is reported to be progressing satisfactorily. Mrs and Miss Lucena and Miss L. Mouat were Wellington visitors to Featherston during the weekend. Red Cross Society. The Red Cross class will resume on Wednesday when home nursing lectures will be given.
