TENNIS MATCH WIN FOR LOCAL TEAM. ("Times-Age” Special.) In a B grade tennis match played at Carterton on Saturday, Carterton defeated Mount Bruce by 13 matches, 163 games to 11 matches, 155 games. Details are as follow, Carterton players being mentioned first in each instance: —

Rayner, 9/3. Ladies’ singles: Miss Pauling lost to Miss Allington, 3/8; Miss M. Dunn lost to Mrs Wyeth, 3/8; Miss Bradford beat Mrs Buick, 8/5; Miss M. Lawrence lost to Miss B. Wood, of Tauranga, are at present staying with Mr and Mrs A. W. Beale, Moreton Road, Carterton. Mr and Mrs D. L. Taverner, of Park Road, Carterton. spent the weekend in Wellington. Damage by Gale Carterton experienced a night of terror when a northerly gale was experienced, the wind blowing with hurricane force at times, <foing considerable damage to orchards and blowing down board fences and sheds.
