In the recent university entrance examinations, Brian Quinn, son of Mrs E. Quinn, late of Carterton, was successful in winning a national scholarship.

At yesterday’s meeting of the Wairarapa South County Council reference was made to the death of Councillor F. Joblin. The chairman, Mr D. McGregor, and Councillors F. Court and A. E. Reid expressed the regret all felt at Mr Joblin’s untimely death. Members stood in silence for a few moments as a mark of respect.
