CHEERFUL THOUGH WET
SOLDIERS ENTER CAMP. MAIN BODY OF MAORIS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) PALMERSTON NORTH, This Day. Despite teeming rain the utmost cheerfulness prevailed when the main body of the Maori Battaiion entered camp on the showgrounds. With additional small groups due to arrive throughout the day over 600 men are converging from all parts of the Dominion. The greatest number arrived at 8 o’clock from the north, close on 400, and rapidly settled into their new quarters, which, are excellently prepared, the accommodation consisting of the spacious show halls as well as an outside camp. The officer commanding, Major Dittr.er, stated that a matter for great satisfaction was the exemplary behaviour of the northern draft who were required to travel all night. The railway officials praised the conduct of these men, many of whom have been on the journey since yesterday morning.
