GERMAN THREAT TO RUMANIA Nazis Assured of Oil and Wheat Supplies BIG CONCESSIONS REPORTED FROM RUSSIA (By Telegraph.-—Press Association.—Copyright.) NEW YORK, January 25. Tin- “New York Tinies” Paris correspondent. says the German, infiltration of‘Galicia is assuming the proportions of an occupation with a common frontier established between Germany and Rumania, assuring the Germans of an uninterrupted supply of oil and wheat if the Rumanians agree and with the possibility of exerting pressure with greater facility if they disagree. The German gains are: 1. .Russian assent to the exploitation of the Galician oilfields for 99 years.
2. The exploitation of railroads, assuring the transport of oil and commerce from Rumania. 3. Concessions in the Krivoirog manganese mines.
4. A, concession to exploit, and organise other resources in Russia with the right of transport in Russian territory. Germany promises: .1. That, she will intervene if Britain and France try to help Finland either directly or through Norway and Sweden. 2. Germany will immediately send experts to organise Russian transport and arms production and even military technicians.
The latest reports state that the negotiations have not been concluded because Moscow is hesitating, but has agreed to German control of the Galician railway with a corridor forty miles wide.
WRITTEN DEMAND
Germany Wants Monopoly of Oil Production TROOPS IN GALICIA TO ENFORCE REQUEST (Received This Day, 11.25 a.m.) PARIS, January 25. The “Journal’s” Zurich cor respondent reports that Germany has sent a written demand to .Rumania for an absolute monopoly of her oil production and exports. German-troops are in Galicia to enforce this demand. “Le Victoire” says Germany is determined to have Northern Rumania and its oil and Russia is determined to grab Southern Rumania, after which Herr Hitler will be permitted to recommence his inarch to Istanbul. “L’Ordre” says Rumania is lost unless England, France and Turkey are able to break the ever-tightening bonds. Britain and France guaranteed Rumania against German aggression, but with Turkey should guarantee her against Russian invasion.
