ROMANCE RECALLED
MARRIAGE OF WILLIAM POWELL. William Powell, film star, who was married recently to Diana Lewis, M.G.M. actress, at Las Vegas, Nevada, is 47 and Miss Lewis 24. William Powell has been married" twice previously. His first wife was the stage actress Eileen Wilson, from whom he was divorced; iff 1931, he married Carole Lombard, who divorced him in 1933.
Diana Lewis, vivacious brunette, appeared in “One Hour Late” and “All the King’s Men.” Her biggest success was m “He Couldn’t Say No,” in 1937.
The announcement of Mr Powell’s marriage recalls his romance with platinum blonde Jean Harlow, thrice married.
When Jean Harlow collapsed and died in May, 1937, during the making of “Saratoga,” Powell was inconsolable, and for months lived practically as a recluse.
When he went to Europe “to seek forgetfulness,” he wore deep mourning.
