BEACH TRAGEDY
BOY KILLED BY SHARK IN SYDNEY.

While swimming with two companions at North Brighton beach today. Maxwell Farrin, aged 13 years, was attacked by a 10ft shark and killed. The attack was made about 50 yards from the edge in 4ft of water. The shark with one bite severed the boy’s leg and a portion of his abdomen. A nearby resident, Mr Sydney Owen, risked his life by swimming to the boy, who had drifted out, to bring him ashore while the shark was only 10ft away. The boy died when brought to the beach.
