SURF TRAGEDY

BATHER LOSES LIFE.

(By Telegraph—Press Asociation.) DUNEDIN. January 24.

Another drowning accident occurred this evening when Donald lan Mclntyre, aged 22 years, lost his life while bathing in the surf at St Clair. A warning that he was in difficulties was given by two girls who were rescued from the surf by the beach patrol.

When members of the St Clair Life Saving Club reached the spot where Mclntyre was last seen, there was not a trace of him. Il was thought that he might have been swept out to sea and a request was made to the Royal New Zealand Air Force station at North Taieri that a plane be sent to search for him. Although the plane flew low over the surf, no sign of the missing man could be seen and the body has not yet been recovered.
