HORSE SPORTS

MEETING AT LANGDALE EXCELLENT DAY’S SPORT. COMPETITION VERY KEEN. The Langdale Horse Sports Society's annual gathering was held on the Langdale Domain in glorious weather on Saturday. The picturesque grounds were made full use of by picnic parties, and a splendid day's sport was witnessed. There was a large attendance and record entries were received in the horse events. Competition was particularly keen and most of the events resulted in thrilling contests. The lengthy programme was run off smoothly and to time under the capable supervision of the joint secretaries. Messrs W. V. Madden and John Morrison.

The Maiden Hack Cup, donated by Curtis and Dornan, was won by Miss Mary Maunsell, the Open Hack Challeng Shield by Miss J. Morrison and the E. T. Taylor’s “White Horse Cup” for Open Hunters by Miss P. Groves. The Stock and Station Agents' Cup for the most points gained in horse events (men) resulted in a tie between Messrs P. O’Brien and O. Walker.

The president (Mr Hugh Morrison) presented the cups and trophies and referred to the high standard of sportsmanship which marked the meeting. He congratulated the competitors on the splendid standard set in the riding events.
