Fifty boys in residence at the Longerenong Agricultural College escaped in their pyjamas when a fire destroyed the college buildings early on Sunday morning. The fire swept with startling rapidity through the wooden buildings, erected 50 years ago. Some boys had narrow escapes and lost all their clothes and personal belongings. The college was conducted by the State Council of Agricultural education. The damage is estimated at £20,000. For some time the Government had been contemplating rebuilding.
