DANNEVIRKE SHOW
FEBRUARY 6 AND 7. In keeping with the times the annual show of the Dannevirke A. and P. Association this year will be known as the Centennial Show. The dates for this popular autumn fixture are February 6 and 7. the days being Tuesday and Wednesday, which have been foun dthe most suitable for this autumn fixture, one of the best of its kind in the Dominion. Schedules are now available and have been distributed over a wide area, but those interested who have not obtained one should make early application to the secretaryfi Mr H. S. M. Quigley, P.O. box 38, Dannevirke, as entries close on January 23. For the annual ram fair, held the day following the show, entries close on January 20. The schedule has been revised and covers the whole range of activities for such an exhibition. Competitions are on established lines and breeders of sheep, cattle, horses and pigs who believe in the value of competition in bringing their stock prominently under public notice are all liberally catered for both in the classes in the respective sections and the prize money and trophies with which they are endowed. Though New Zealand is at present making its contribution to the Empire's war effort that should not be allowed to overshadow the usual domestic activities. The show will serve a dual purpose; it should sustain interest in activities which are of paramount importance at the present time in regard to the maintenance and increasing of our primary production and will enable the people to foregather and bring into contact men and women of all classes, of town and country, which is eminently desirable when the need is for- national unity and we are celebrating the first one hundred years of our nationhood, to which the Dannevirke A. and P. Show has contributed a worthy part. Intending exhibitors will find in the schedule the names of the judges of the majority of the classes, and these have been selected with due discrimination and with the one desire of giving universal satisfaction. The association will welcome the support of those outside its district who have been exhibitors in the past and makes a special appeal to those residing in its area to give the Centennial Show a full measure of support and thus make it outstanding in .the annals of the association.
