DANNEVIRKE SHOW

ON FEBRUARY 6 & 7. Those who have been exhibitors at the Dannevirke A. and P. Association’s shows in the past will have a good idea of the features of the schedule of the Centennial Show on February 6th and 7th next. Those who have not, but who desire to be exhibitors on this occasion. should lose no time in making themselves conversant with the classes in which they are interested and the conditions governing them. Competitions, always a popular feature, are again provided on a liberal scale. On the first day there are two riding events for both girls and boys, over 12 and under 16, and 12 years and under (post entry permitted); a pony jump, hunting style, for best boy riders, and two other pony jumping events. For the bigger horses there is a maiden jumping competition (open to lady or gentleman riders), carrying a prize ot five guineas for the winner. There is also a wire jump, hunting style, for ladies, and two handy hunters’ competitions, confined respectively to members of each sex. On the second day there are in all seven events, including champion pony jump, champion hunters’ competition (first prize £3O. second £l5, third £5), a ladies’ hunters’ competition, wire jump, hunting style, and consolation jump. Prizes in each event are substantial and well worth winning. In addition, there is an event for best lady rider and one for bareback, 17 years and over. There is also a sheep dog trial, which will start on the first day of the show and the finals will be run the second day. Prizes are given for placings in the preliminaries and also in the finals. Post entries can be made for the dog trials. No effort is being spared to make the Centennial Show an outstanding exhibition, and the co-opera-tion of all is invited. Entries, with the exception of cooking, close with the secretary, Mr H. S. M. Quigley, on January 23.
