AN ODD REMARK

AMERICAN ADMIRAL ON BIG BATTLESHIPS. By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright. WASHINGTON, January 9In the course of his testimony before the Naval Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives, the Chief of Naval. Operations, Admiral Stark, expressed the opinion that the suggested 80.000-ton battleships would be “too big. or else insufficiently big." but did not explain what he meant by the remark. The Navy, he said, was investigating the possibilities of 52,000-ton ships with 18in guns. Admiral Stark expressed satisfaction with the four contemplated 45.000-ton ships with a speed of 33 knots, as probably the best being built by any nation.
