GERMAN BOMBERS
DRIVEN OFF WITH LEWIS GUN. ABORTIVE ATTACK ON SHIP. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (■Received This Day, 10.35 a.m.) LONDON, January 10. Two German bombers off the East Coast on Tuesday missed the steamer Northwood with 40 bombs. They machine-gunned the ship, but there were no casualties. The Northwood s Lewis gun hit the fuselage of one plane, whereon both departed. The Northwood reached port. /mother officer is believed to have died of wounds received when Nazi planes attacked a lighthouse ship on Tuesday.
