False Pretences Charge.

Charged with issuing 'a cheque for £2. knowing it to be valueless, a man appeared before Mr H. P. Lawry, S.M., at a special sitting of the Masterton Magistrate’s Court this morning. He pleaded guilty and was ordered to refund the money and if required, to come up for sentence within six months. Mr Lawry ordered the name of the accused to be suppressed. SeniorSergeant G. A. Doggett, prosecuting for the police, stated that the offence was committed in Wanganui, the cheque being made out on a form for an account with a Hastings bank held by the accused several years ago. The accused had had an unblemished record.
