ALICE DOOL’S SCREAM

WORTH £5 A DAY. Alice Dool has a scream that is good and loud enough to earn her £5 a day. She screams for feminine stars to save wear and tear on their expensive larynxes, and she can scream in any key. Her screams are dubbed into the film later, the star just opening her mouth mutely for the photographed scream. One writer suggests that the movie-makers ought to get a poor fan who has been forced to sit through a double bill of "B” pictures to do the screaming, and then they’d really get a scream.
