CARTERTON
BOWLING CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES. ("Times-Age” Special.) Several championship games have been played by members of the Carterton Bowling Club, the results being as follows: — Champion singes—Geo Hart defeated J. G. Stevens 24/8; Barr defeated Callender 18/17. Champion pairs—Newbould and Hughan (s) beat Harris and Hart (S’), 20/16; Underhill and Harp (s) beat Boyne and Barber (s) 30/14; Harrington and R. Thompson (s) beat Hawker and De Lacey (s) 23/10. DeLacey Buttons. —The holders Lynch and Tucker (s) were defeated by Kilmister and J. G. Stevens (s) challengers, 24/15. The annual fixture between Carterton and Eketahuna Clubs will take place early in February. GUN CLUB MEETING ON SATURDAY. Next Saturday members of the Carterton Gun Club will hold a meeting at the Clareville racecourse. This gathering is a preliminary to the Centennial championship meeting, which will be held shortly at the Hutt. Competitors have notified their intention of being present on Saturday from all parts of the district. Several members of the Carterton Club will be competitors at the Centennial championship. Personal Items. Mr P. A. Cole, town clerk, who spent the Christmas and New Year vacation at Stratford, has returned to Carterton. Mrs Stark, who has been to Gisborne for the Christmas and New Year holidays, has returned to Carterton. Mr and Mrs Ivon Tinsley, of Gisborne, are visitors to Carterton, and are staying with Mr and Mrs Stark. Kent Street. Mr C. H. Barber and his daughter, who have been on holdiay to Paeroa, have returned to Carterton. Mr and Mrs J. V. Gustofson and child, of Pembroke Street, Carterton, who spent the holidays at Waihi, have returned home.
