RESPONSE FOR RECRUITS

PUBLIC SEND-OFF. MEN GOING INTO CAMP. A public send-off to men going into camp is to be tendered to members of the Second Echelon who are leaving Masterton on Friday and Tuesday. The men will be addressed at the Drill Hail. Masterton. by the Mayor. Mr. T. Jordan, and by Mr. R. Whyborn, president of the Wairarapa R.S.A. On Friday, a party of .23- infantry and transport men will leave Masterton by the 2.0 p.m. Wellington train for Trentham Camp and on Tuesday next, another 33 infantry recruits will proceed, also by the 2.0 p.m. train, to Trentham. Both these batches will be given an official send-off at the Drill HaU.

Tomorrow, two lots of men will be leaving Masterton for other camps. Seven, members of artillery units or divisional cavalry, will be going to the Waikato and four who are joining up with the ambulance, will go to Burnham. The Waikato-bound men will leave by the 11.15 a.m. train and the others by the 2 p.m. train. ENLISTMENTS IN WAIRARAPA. TOTAL NEARLY FOUR HUNDRED. Further enlistments in the Special Military Force for service overseas from the Wairarapa recruiting area are as follow: Messrs R. F. Henderson, B. A. Matthews. "A. C. Campbell (Martinborough), R. W. Phillips. J. Smith, R. W. Wreay, G. J. Vile (Masterton), and H. F. Rayner (Carterton). The total enlistments to date is now 395.
