WAIRARAPA ASSOCIATION SATURDAY'S PLAY. SEVERAL GAMES FORFEITED. A feature of the Wairarapa Lawn Tennis Association's inter-club competition on Saturday was the large number of matches won by default owing to members of the teams being away on holiday. In the Gawith Shield contest, Carterton defaulted to Masterton, and Martinborough defaulted to Memorial. In the B grade Masterton defaulted to Mount Bruce, while in the C .grade, Wairarapa College defaulted to Rang'itumau, while Greytown and St. Patrick’s abandoned their match. The weather was very hot, the teams drawing matches which were played on the hard courts, finding the conditions very trying. B GRADE BEMORIAL PARK v. KURIPUNI. Memorial scored a good win over Kuripuni by 22 matches, 22 sets, 191 games to 2 matches, 2 sets, 85 games.
