BOWLING LOCAL COMPETITIONS. (“Times-Age” Special.) .In the Greytown Club’s singles competition, Connolly beat Bloomfield after a great fight by one point, the final scores being 18-17. Two colts, Nelson and Robinson, played splendid bowls in their game. Robinson winning on the 20th head. Mr N. S. McLeod left today to compete in the New Zealand champion singles. On Wednesday he will pair with Mr F. Dennes. Messrs Shedden and Carter will also start in the pairs on Wednesday. These four will compete in the rinks competition starting on Friday. ( Personal Items. Mr B. Burch, Senr., is the guest of Mr W. H. Day, McMaster Street. Mr C. Burch, of the staff of Day’s Ltd., has enlisted for service. Mr A. Maloney and family, of Kaikoura, are on a visit to Mr G. S. Maloney, McMaster Street. Mrs R. Hassall” (Wellington) and Mrs Burt (Lower Hutt), are staying with Mrs R. Thomas, Moroa.
