CURRENT TOPICS FROM STABLE AND COURSE Beau Vite Beats Beanlivre in Derby AUCKLAND HANDICAP TO ROYAL APPELLANT WAIRARAPA CUP WON BY GLOBE TROTTER / NOTIUM SCORES IN STRATFORD CUP (BY “CARBINE.”) There were a number of racing and trotting meetings in various parts of New Zealand over the holidays. In the Great Northern Derby at Auckland there was a great battle between Beau Vite and Beaulivre, the former eventually winning by three-quarters of a length. The Racing Club Handicap at Auckland was won by Royal Appellant. The Wairarapa Cup went to the Trentham-trained gelding Globe Trotter who won an exciting race from Siegmund by half a head. On the second day at the Wairarapa meeting the chief event went to Rarotonga, trained by A. Jenkins at Opaki. The Stratford Cup was won by Notium and the Marton Cup by Windsor Chief. The two principal races at the Hawke’s Bay races were won by Granvale and Gay Mimic, respectively.
