MRS R. BROWN CELEBRATES BIRTHDAY. Mrs Richard Brown, of Essex Street, Masterton, celebrated her ninetyfourth birthday today. She was the recipient of many good wishes from relatives and friends. Mrs Brown, who has lived in Masterton for sixty-five years still finds much pleasure in knitting and reading. Mrs Brown arrived in New Zealand with her husband, the late Mr Ri’chard Brown, in 1874. Following on Masterton being proclaimed a borough in 1877, the office of Town Clerk was held by Mr Brown almost from the inception of the borough and for the next 31 years. Mr Brown died in 1929. a year after ho and his wife had celebrated their diamond wedding.
