The champion three-year-old, Beau livre, registered his eleventh successive win, when he scored decisively in the King’s Plate at Auckland yesterday, in 1.37, which was only two-fifths of a second outside the course record, held conjointly by Karapoti and Thespian. i The race was run at a cracking pace > early. Konneta going out with a lead | of six lengths over the first half-mile in 48 3-5, at which stage she was followed by Beaupartir, with an interval of three lengths to Orelio and Beaulivre, who were together, clear of Beau Vite. It. was just after this that Beaulivre, who was last after going a furlong and half, ran up to Beaupartir. and they began to close on the leader. Once into the straight Beaulivre and Beaupartir ran past Konneta, while Orelio. on the outside, and Beau Vite, near the rails, challenged. Inside the distance Orelio looked really dangerous, but Beaulivre asserted himself and won well. Beau Vite and Beaupartir ran on belter in the last half-furlong than Orelio, and they filled the minor places, both registering good efforts. Konneta stopped badly in the straight, and was 12 lengths away. An interesting feature of the race was that there were three runners by Beau Pere, and they filled the places.
