Badly damaged in a reconnaissance flight over north-west Germany early this month, this British plane, piloted by Flying-Officer F. H. Long, of Masterton, pluckily battled home tn her base. The top skin was lost from half of one wing, and one-third of the opposite span, but the plane completed her mission. Flying-Officer Long was subsequently awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross.
