ST. JOHN’S CHURCH CAROL SERVICE. ("Times-Age" Special.) There was a very large congregation at the Carol -Service hold in St John’s Church on Sunday night, it being necessary to have extra chairs placed in the aisle. The lessons were read by Messrs D. Feast. L. Robinson, H. Edwards, D. H. S. Riddiford, F. White and J. W. Holland. The augmented choir rendered many beautiful carols and hymns. Mrs Allen was the organist. The address was given by the Vicar, the Rev J. S. Holland. The services on Christmas Day were very well attended. FALL FROM HORSE MISS F. DONALD INJURED. Miss F. Donald had the misfortune to break a small bone in her leg when the horse she was riding in swampy ground fell. Personal Items. Mr and Mrs Wadham, Wanganui, are the guests of Mrs Fairbrother, Hayward Street. Mr and Mrs I. Carlyon, Wellington, who visited Featherston for Christmas, left yesterday bn a motor tour of Taranaki. Mrs Swainson, Hawera, and Miss Swainson, lona, who spent Christmas with Mr and Mrs R. Hardy, have left for Martinborough where they will spend a few days. Mr and Mrs D. Edwards, Wellington, are the guests of Mrs Tullock. Mr and Mrs B. Clark, Taumarunui, are visitors for the holidays. Guests staying with Mr J. W. Card include Mr and Mrs R. G. McKenzie and family. Ballance, and Mr and Mrs McKay and Miss Anne McKay, of Levin. Miss J. C. Thomson, M.8.E., Napier, and Mr H. J. Pitman, London, are the guests of Miss B. Donald,’“Tarureka,” for the holidays. The death occurred at Featherston on Saturday of Mrs Alison Graham Curlett, wife of Mr A. Richard Curlett, Ohinewai, and eldest daughter of Mrs and the late Mr Chas. Matthews, “Oporua.” The funeral, which was largely attended, took place at the Featherston cemetery on Sunday afternoon. The services at the church and graveside were conducted by the Rev J. T. Holland. The floral tributes were beautiful and numerous. The pallbearers were Messrs E. Curlett. Lambert, E. Smith, P. Pearce, K. Donald and K. McMaster. A painful accident while using a washing machine yesterday morning befel Mrs L. Cherry, who had her hand very badly crushed in the wringer. She was conveyed to the Kelvin Hospital for medical treatment. Miss Card Entertained. A pleasant gathering took place on Christmas Eve at Greytown Hospital, when the inmates of the Buchanan Home entertained Miss Card to tea. On behalf of the inmates Mr Morgan presented Miss Card with a very handsome handbag and tortoiseshell French powder compact, in recognition of the many kindnesses she had shown to them. Miss Card suitably replied.
