The hotel guest was thoroughly annoyed. People were running backwards and forwards along the corridor outside his room, making a terrible noise. So he took the telephone and spoke to the manager's office. “I can’t get to sleep with all this noise going on,” he complained angrily. “I'm sorry, sir,” replied an excited clerk, “but I'm afraid we can't control the movements of the fire brigade.”
