FOR THE HOUSEWIFE. Beating eggs can be overdone. If they are beaten for too long they will turn to water. A little mixed glycerine and oil of camphor poured on the floor of a wardrobe occasionally, in addition to hanging up mothballs in muslin bags, will keep moths away. A paste of whiting and skim milk, washed off with cold water, will clean painted furniture. Do not use a soap containing soda. To preserve brass that is being packed away, cover it freely with vaseline and wrap it in paper. Steam unravelled wool over a saucepan. and it will be in shape for re-knit-ting. The point is to have plenty of steam. Oil-silk curtains in the bathroom will be freshened if rubbed over with olive oil. After peeling potatoes let them rest a while in cold water to preserve their whiteness when cooked.
