His Majesty has awarded the D.S.O. to Lieutenant-Commander Bickford of the submarine Salmon, which recently sank a U-boat, sighted the Bremen, and torpedoed at least one German cruiser. He has been promoted to the rank of commander. The D.S.C. is awarded to Torpedoer First Lieutenant M. F. Wykeham Martin, Lieutenant. R. H. Hancock, and Warrant Engineer Lancaster, and the D.S.M. to eight of the crew.
