The reflecting pools at the Centennial Exhibition designed primarily to give effect to the architecture and colour in the grounds have* more than one use. The 400,000 gallons of water they contain can be pumped on to the buildings in case of fire beca'use they have special sumps built in each. During the hot weather several small children have been seen paddling in them, and the other day one of them was converted into a bath for baby. In the middle of the day the yodng mother was seen dangling her infant by the arms into the pool for a refreshing bathe.
