BOY DROWNED

FALL INTO WANGANUI RIVER. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WANGANUI, December 21. Joseph McDonald, aged 7, of 4 Sydney Place, was drowned in the Wanganui River tonight. With his elder brother Neville and another boy he was playing on the riverbank near Dublin Street bridge when he fell into deep water. Hitbrother made a gallant but unsuccessful attempt at rescue, but became exhausted and was rescued by Mr E. Rohloff, foreman of the Wanganui Gravel Company. The body of Joseph McDonald was recovered by the police an hour after the accident.
